A Brief Tour of Kraków

On the hill over the center of Kraków, stands the Royal Wawel Castle (Zamek Krolewski), home of the ancient Polish kings.  We begin with the statue of  Tadeusz Kosciuszko (1746-1817), who was a hero of both the American Revolution and the 1794 Polish uprising against Russian occupation.

On Kraków's Grand Square (Rynek Glowny), you will find the great Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), home of a 700-year-old market, with statue of the great 19th century Polish romantic poet Adam Mickiewicz in the foreground:

The 14th-century Wawel Cathedral, home of the reliquary of St. Stanislaus (1058-1079), patron saint of Poland, martyred at the hands of King Boleslav II, who had his body hacked into pieces:

This is the clock tower of Wawel Cathedral, home of the massive Zygmunt Bell , which is as large as Big Ben and 350 years older.  It takes 10 men to pull the rope to ring it!
