George Van Patten Becker
George Van Patten Becker, son of Storm
Clute Becker
and Catherine Van Patten, was born on September 1, 1875 in Pleasant
Prairie, Wisconsin and
died on December 24, 1965 in Deer River, Minnesota. He
was married to Emma Mohr of Orland Park, Illinois on the 4th of July probably in 1899.
He is assumed to have traveled with his mother and Aunt
Kate from Wisconsin to Orland Park sometime between 1890 and 1898. He is listed
as an auto factory worker on the birth certificate of his son Roy (1902-1994), as a
telegraph operator in the 1920 census and also owned an icehouse business in the
1930's. He lived in the town of Lockport, Illinois from roughly the time of
his marriage (between 1898 and 1900) until his retirement in 1945, when he moved
to Deer River, Minnesota. The picture shown above was taken in the summer of 1965
during a reunion of his son Raymond's descendants (the Becker, Toth and Wrobel
families).
He is the father of Raymond Merton Becker, whose family
tree is also available on this site.
